Our Mission
Ward and Ward Mental Health Services,
Inc. provide service and support to
individuals with developmental disabilities.
We are contracted by the District of
Columbia through the Department on
Disability Services. We are dedicated to
meeting the needs of each individual that we
serve. These needs are addressed through a
person-centered approach. Our goal is to
assure the health, safety, and protection
from harm of all individuals receiving
services, while promoting a positive outcome
for all individuals with mental retardation
and developmental disabilities.
Ward and Ward Mental Health Services,
Inc. strive to provide a
rehabilitative environment that will promote
growth and development within defined
standards of expected adult-like behavior.
Our individuals will be treated with
dignity and respect and will be afforded the
protection, rights, and freedoms that exist
for all citizens of the United States. We
will ensure that the individuals that we
serve are protected from abuse, neglect,
mistreatment and exploitation.
Ward and Ward Mental Health Services,
Inc. will seek access to the
best healthcare delivery system available to
ensure the best possible health given each
individual’s circumstances.
From the time Dr. Ruth Ward
opened her home to the first
DE-institutionalized individuals in 1978
our mission has been and will always be to
provide those we serve with the best
opportunity for normalization in the least
restrictive environment while providing an
integrated community-based living and work
sites that meet their individual needs. Look
us over and you will realize
